Welcome to Good Shepherd! |
Good Shepherd is a diverse faith community in the heart of Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, NY. We believe a better world is possible and are doing all we can to make that real for ourselves and our communities.
In these difficult times, when so many people are facing more challenges than ever just to stay healthy physically and emotionally, our values are being actively embodied in the way the community has showed up to work together.
We meet virtually on zoom on Sundays at 10:45 a.m. for our English-language worship service that lasts for about 50 minutes. The Spanish-language service, also available on Zoom, starts at 1:00 p.m. As we return to "normal," our physical spaces will become more available again, with wheelchair accessibility, including a fully operational lift, and our church campus will once again be open 7 days a week. But we are still here, now! We keep responding to the emergent needs of our community by feeding and providing care groceries packages to over a thousand families on Tuesday and Thursdays. We also are sending out prepared, hot meals by some of our partners, community kitchens, restaurants and the Episcopal Church of the Incarnation in LI, four days a week. If you want to get involve in this ministry please do email our Pastor Juan Carlos Ruiz at revjcruizgoodshepherd@gmail.com
At the core of our faith, we are invited to be moved by the compassion of our God. We, as followers of Jesus of Nazareth, passionately believe that God loves everyone with no exceptions. Our liturgical worship incorporates both traditional and progressive styles, including world music, and is an expression of the gratitude of knowing that God continues to be present to us. We strive to celebrate that life by practicing the justice that is at the heart of the biblical teachings and finds embodiment in the prophetic traditions, and the many voices that are relevant and thunder in these difficult times, bearing the Good News to those who have eyes to see and ears to hear.
Now as always, there are many ways you can join us to share our passion and our vision. On this website you can find general information and ways to get involved.
